About this site

Great Uncle Fred and Young Jack are the inventions of J.R.H.McEwen, a writer, small-holder and father of three (under seven), living in the Borders of Scotland. The questions, however, have all been formulated by real, puzzled, inquisitive people; most of the questioners have been aged between seven and seventeen but Great Uncle Fred is interested in answering anybody's questions. (The wording and some of the names have been changed, by the way.) The site is intended for the entertainment and edification of anyone with a question that needs to be answered, a question, perhaps, for which there is no answer.

Anyone using the site will be unidentifiable and will certainly never be asked to enter an email or postal address, or a landline or mobile phone number.

No user can contact the site directly. But if anyone (most likely, perhaps, a grown-up prompted by a young user) wishes to suggest a question which Great Uncle Fred might answer and post on the site, please use the Suggest a question page.
