The World
Question: Who is the most beautiful man in the world?
Great Uncle Fred? I think you should realise that this website is interesting to girls too. I was looking at it and I was interested in your answer to Matthew`s question, "Who is the most beautiful woman?" but I thought that you should have the most beautiful man as well because that`s only fair. I know that you are a man but I think that you could be helpful with this question because you are old and you can say what is beautiful even though you do not want to kiss anyone ever again, probably. (Rachel, Summer 2008)
Answer:
Rachel, you are quite right: I am not looking for anyone to kiss, but it is not out of the question. People do get married at my age. However, your question. As a man of the marrying sort, despite your kind words, I think I do notice the beauty of women more than that of men. Actually, I sometimes think that even women notice the beauty of women more than that of men. Certainly, what women find attractive in men is often something which has got nothing to do with beauty. But your question is not about the attractiveness of men which only someone who found men attractive could answer; not me. Your question is about beauty which, now that you have got me thinking about it, I realise that I see in every face I know. That`s not much an answer, though, is it? Therefore, I shall refer you to the words of Harry Benson, a Scottish photographer who has photographed all the most famous people, mostly in America, for the last 50 years. He said that the most beautiful person he had ever taken a picture of, man or woman, was Johnny Depp. I would have thought that Johnny Depp was a bit too pretty to be considered a really beautiful man but that`s what Mr Benson said. I think cheek-bones are important. Johnny Depp has cheek-bones. Pete Postlethwaite, the actor, he has cheek-bones too but no one has ever accused him of being beautiful. Perhaps you can have too much of a good thing. As for me, if I had to choose, I would perhaps go for Samuel Beckett, the Irish playwright, when he was old, and looked like a tree. That`s my idea of a beautiful man. Someone who looks like a tree.
